ᅠ
PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLYLAND
WITH FR. MATT WILLIAMS
Novemberᅠ9 - 20, 2010
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to be able to invite you to join me on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land this fall. I have been to the Holy Land before and am anxious to return and revisit this sacred place and to share that experience with you. My experience and that of others who have been there is that it changes forever the way you read and listen to the Sacred Scriptures. When you have stood before the Lord's tomb, walked the valley where David and Goliath faced off against each other, knelt at the cave where once the manger held the Precious Infant, stood where the Temple of Solomon once stood, you understand why pilgrims have gone to that land, despite all the hardships they sometimes had to endure, for two thousand years (and more, if you count the Jewish pilgrims, like, Jesus himself, who made the trip from Galilee through Samaria to the Temple in Jerusalemᅠthe same route we shall take). There are some requirements: Many sites to be visited are not handicapped accessible. There will be several walking tours during the program. To enjoy this program, you should be in good health and able to walk several miles a day at a moderate pace over uneven ground. And it is BYOB (bring your own Bible). But it won't be all work. We will also have time to browse shops in Bethlehem and the markets of the Old City of Jerusalem, visit Palestinian Christians for a meal, and relax in an outdoor cafe on a warm evening. It is an over-used expression, but for most this really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Matt
